FUN FACT: On May 30, 2008, the Rio opened the Sapphire Pool (in a partnership with a strip club) that featured topless dancers. The Nevada Gaming Control Board was not pleased because of the possibility of bringing illegal activity to the property that could result in losing their gaming license. In July 2009 the Rio asked Metro Police to do an undercover investigation. On July 25 they made 11 arrests. This pool concept was immediately discontinued.

The Rio is located across the street from the Palms and Gold Coast casinos.
