Fun Fact: On May 30, 2008, the Rio opened the Sapphire Pool (in a partnership with a strip club) that featured topless dancers. The Nevada Gaming Control Board was not pleased because of the possibility of bringing illegal activity to the property that could result in losing their gaming license. In July 2009 the Rio asked Metro Police to do an undercover investigation. On July 25 they made 11 arrests. This pool concept was immediately discontinued.

Fun Fact 2: The Rio was home of the World Series of Poker from 2005 until 2021. It is now held at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas on the Strip.
