Vagabond DRINK + PLAY + EAT Coming to the Excalibur Hotel & Casino
The Excalibur Hotel & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip is constructing a brand new restaurant next to the Race & Sports Book in the casino. Vagabond DRINK + PLAY + EAT will feature a draft beer program, arcade games, live entertainment, and sports viewing throughout the bar and restaurant.
Domestic, imported, and craft beers on tap, frozen drinks, and a special menu focused on beer and shot pairings will be featured at the bar. They will have live music, tabletop gaming, arcade and bar games. Eighteen high-definition television screens will be tuned to sports. A stage surrounds the bar.
The restaurant plans to be open at 4 pm Monday through Thursday and starting at 10 am Friday through Sunday when it opens in October. It is currently blocked by construction walls. The Excalibur Hotel & Casino is owned by MGM Resorts International.

Bella Bistro at the Sahara Las Vegas Open
Cleo Mediterranean Restaurant served its last meal at the SLS Las Vegas (now the Sahara Las Vegas) on Sunday August 25th. Bella Bistro has taken over the space as a pop-up restaurant. It is described as an American contemporary dinner venue with an Italian influence that focuses on stone-oven pizzas, homemade pastas and various other entrees. The Sahara Las Vegas is owned by The Meruelo Group.

The Mansion Casino & Lounge at MGM Grand Completes Remodel
The MGM Grand Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip has completed the remodel of The Mansion Casino & Lounge, that has been taking place over the past several months. The MGM Grand is owned by MGM Resorts International.

Andrea’s Restaurant at the Encore Resort Permanently Closed
Andrea’s Restaurant at the Encore Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip was permanently closed on September 1st. It will be replaced with a fine dining Mexican restaurant in late 2019 or early 2020. The Encore Resort & Casino is owned by Wynn Resorts.

Vegas Vic on Fremont Street Receives a Makeover
Vegas Vic – The famous neon cowboy sign on Fremont Street recently received a much needed makeover. The sign is located at 25 E Fremont Street, where he has been since 1951 on the exterior of what used to be The Pioneer Club, but is currently a souvenir shop. The casino closed in 1995. The restoration was done by the YESCO sign company.
Viva Vision on the Fremont Street Experience Upgrade Update
The Fremont Street Experience in Downtown Las Vegas continues its $32 million renovation of Viva Vision, which is the world’s largest single video screen. The Viva Vision light show is an LED display on the “canopy” that runs along the Fremont Street Experience from Main Street to Fourth Street. It features different shows at the top of each hour, starting at dusk.
The upgraded Viva Vision canopy will illuminate the pedestrian mall with 16,433,152 pixels and 5,000 Nits, making it seven-times brighter than the existing canopy with four-times the resolution. Installation of the LED modules has been completed from the Golden Gate Hotel & Casino all they way to the Golden Nugget. They are currently working over the Fremont Hotel & Casino and the Four Queens Hotel & Casino. They are well over half-way done, and completion is expected by New Years Eve.
Petrossian Bar & Lounge at the Bellagio Resort Remodel Continues
The Bellagio Resort and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip closed the Petrossian Bar & Lounge on Monday August 26th for a major remodel. They have opened Chihuly Lounge in the hotel lobby until early December when the Petrossian Lounge reopens. Below are artist renderings of what the remodeled lounge will look like.

I Love Sugar at the Linq Promenade Construction Update
Construction of I Love Sugar in the Linq Promenade on the Las Vegas Strip has been taking place for over a year and it has been slow. That has changed recently and they are moving at a fast pace. It will span 14,000 square feet and is being billed by Caesars Entertainment as the largest candy experience in the world.

Giant Indoor Jungle Gym Coming to the Las Vegas Strip
They are currently building a giant indoor Jungle Gym, or something similar in the shops next to the Planet Hollywood Resort and Miracle Mile Shops on the Las Vegas Strip. This is in the building on the second floor that has a Twin Peaks Sports Bar & Restaurant and Rainforest Cafe. No further details are available at this time, but this thing is huge.

Poker Room at the Strat Hotel, Casino & Skypod Relocated
The Poker Room at the Strat Hotel, Casino & Skypod (formerly called the Stratosphere) was relocated from the casino floor to a new space on the second floor. The entire casino is receiving a major remodel and they are currently about halfway done. The Link Slot Lounge is now open. The Strat is owned by Golden Entertainment.

Atomic Saloon Show at the Venetian Resort Opens
The “Atomic Saloon Show” opened on the Las Vegas Strip in the Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian Resort and Casino on September 8th, after a run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August. Spiegelworld presents this new show, the third after the very popular “Absinthe” at Caesars Palace and “Opium” at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
The venue seats about 250, and audiences are at a close distance from the action, like they do in the Rose. Rabbit. Lie. Showroom at the Cosmopolitan that was designed to keep “Opium” audiences at a close distance.

Fountains at the Wynn Resort Reopens after Grasshopper Invasion
Grasshoppers invaded the Las Vegas Valley the last week of July. The Wynn fountains in the front of the resort closed soon after. Was this a coincidence or scheduled maintenance? Calls to the Wynn Resort did not have an answer, but the good news is the fountains are up and running this week.

New Pedestrian Bridge over Strip Update
Construction continues on the new pedestrian bridge over the Las Vegas Strip from Park MGM to the Hard Rock Cafe. This bridge is needed because of the added foot traffic from T-Mobile Arena, Park Theater and nearby casinos. In 2020, they plan construction on four more pedestrian bridges crossing Sahara Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard, on the far north end of the Strip.
Target being built on the Las Vegas Strip Update
Construction continues on the first Target Department Store being built on the Las Vegas Strip. It is located directly across from Park MGM. This project is moving fast.
