After a one-year run, National Geographic’s “Rarely Seen” Photographs of the Extraordinary Exhibit abruptly closed on Monday, March 20. It was located at the Horseshoe Hotel & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip.

The exhibit featured 50 visual wonders. “National Geographic reveals a world very few have the chance to see for themselves. It’s all here: a green-crowned brilliant hummingbird looking eye to eye with a pit viper, the Rayong Dam, an underwater park in Austria, ice caves, a supercell storm cloud, and a royal white tiger. With an introduction by veteran National Geographic photographer Stephen Alvarez, whose work has taken him from the Peruvian Andes to the deepest caves of Papua New Guinea, this exhibition captures once-in-a-lifetime moments, natural wonders, and rarely seen objects from across the globe.”

It is unknown what will replace the exhibit, but the space is being covered in black plastic.
