On Thursday May 28, 2020 it was announced that the new American Hockey League team will be called the Henderson Silver Knights. They will play in their own 6,000-seat arena that is about to start construction in Henderson, Nevada. They will play in the Orleans Arena at the Orleans Resort & Casino for at least the first season. This arena is located one mile from the Las Vegas Strip.
The Henderson Silver Knights are the American Hockey League affiliate of the Vegas Golden Knights, owned and operated by Black Knight Sports and Entertainment owned by Bill Foley. They purchased the AHL membership in February 2020.
