Construction continues on Resorts World Las Vegas. It will be the first Las Vegas mega-resort opening since The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas that opened in December 2010.  Resorts World Las Vegas is on the north end of the Las Vegas Strip, across from the Encore Resort & Casino.  It is in the failed Boyd Casinos Echelon Place that stopped construction in 2008. This is the site of the former Stardust Hotel and Casino.

There were many changes announced:

  • It was scheduled to open in December 2020. It is now scheduled to open in the summer of 2021
  • It will lose the Chinese theme, replaced with a luxury experience “with Asian-inspired touches”
  • 2 towers with 3,500 rooms and suites
  • 59 stories tall
  • 110,000 square feet of Gaming Space
  • 14,000 square feet entertainment zone that will include a Race & Sports Book and live entertainment
  • 220,000 square feet pool complex with 7 pools, including a 1,800 square feet infinity pool with views of the Las Vegas Strip
  • 27,000 square feet Spa
  • 5,000 seat state-of-the-art Theater
  • 75,000 square feet Nightclub and Dayclub
  • 350,000 square feet of Meeting and Banquet space
  • A 50 feet diameter video globe will display more than 6,000 square feet of LED content
  • Giant video screens are planned on Resorts World’s two towers. The west tower will have one of the largest LED building displays in the world at 100,000 square feet, while the east tower screen will occupy 19,000 square feet

Resorts World Las Vegas was originally scheduled to have 6,583 rooms in four towers. That has been scaled back to now have two towers and approx. 3,500 rooms. The price has dropped from $7.2 billion to $4.3 billion to build.

Resorts World Las Vegas is owned by the Genting Group, based in Malaysia. The parking garage is complete and they have set-up five large cranes on site to build the casino and hotel towers. The official topping off occurred in mid-August. There are currently approximately 1,500 construction workers on-site.
