Sahara Las Vegas Lobby/Reception Construction Update
Construction is wrapping up on the front desk, lobby and reception at the Sahara Hotel & Casino on the north end of the Las Vegas Strip. They continue to have construction walls and curtains in place. They have gutted the Monkey Bar and have added a Starbucks that should open very soon.
They are still building a Poker Room in the casino. The rest of the casino looks finished. You would not recognize this resort from the former SLS Las Vegas. It looks great. Sahara Las Vegas is owned by the Meruelo Group.

Majordomo at the Palazzo Resort Sets Opening Date
David Chang, the television personality and chef who already has Momofuku at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, now has an opening date for his second Las Vegas restaurant, Majordomo Meat & Fish at the Palazzo. It will open December 14. Construction walls remain in place at this time. The Palazzo Resort & Casino is owned by the Las Vegas Sands Corporation.

Aria Cafe to Close making way for Dumpling Specialist Din Tai Fung
Aria Cafe at the Aria Resort and Casino in CityCenter on the Las Vegas Strip will close in February (the exact date has not been announced). It will undergo a major remodel to become a Taiwanese soup dumpling restaurant Din Tai Fung.
Din Tai Fung is a Taiwanese restaurant franchise, specializing in Huaiyang cusine. They have locations throughout Asia, UK, UAE and the US. The Aria Resort & Casino is owned by MGM Resorts International.

M Resort Plans 24/7 Raiders Themed Restaurant to open in 2020
The M Resort Spa Casino became the official team headquarters to the Las Vegas Raiders NFL franchise when the team moves from Oakland in 2020. With it comes a new restaurant, the Raiders bar and grill, a 24/7 spot. The name and menu are still in the planning stages. It will take over a new space within the Henderson casino that is owned by Penn National Gaming.

Harrah’s/Linq Monorail Station Using Temporary Entrance
The Harrah’s/Linq Monorail Station was closed for several weeks. It has reopened with a new way to enter. There is no access from Harrah’s Hotel & Casino at this time. You need to enter from the Linq Hotel & Casino through a temporary walkway through the 4th floor parking garage. This will remain in place for several months while they build the new Caesars Forum bride to the Monorail Station. Both the Linq and Harrah’s are owned by Caesars Entertainment.
Buddy Valastroto from “Cake Boss” to open Pizzacake at Harrah’s
Chef Buddy Valastro will open Pizzacake at Harrah’s Hotel & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. It will be in the space that was formally Gifts Plus, between the Piano Bar and Poker Room. The construction walls are in place.
It will be a fast-casual restaurant that will feature freshly made pizza and dessert selections, similar to the existing menus at Valastro’s Carlo’s Bake Shop and Buddy V’s Ristorante at the Venetian Resort & Casino. No opening date has been set, but it should open in early 2020. Harrah’s is owned by Caesars Entertainment.

Chick-fil-A at Planet Hollywood Construction Update
Chick-fil-A continues construction at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip.
Why is this location unique? There are other Chick-fil-A locations that have opened in Nevada over the past two years, but this location is unique because it will be in a casino. There is also a location being built in the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino in Downtown Las Vegas.
Many of the company’s values are influenced by the religious beliefs of its late founder, S. Truett Cathy, a devout Southern Baptist, who passed away in 2014. He would have never approved of a Chick-fil-A to be built in a casino resort or even in the State of Nevada.
It is being built in the space that formally had a Pink’s Hot Dogs restaurant. Pink’s Hot Dogs closed in May 2018 and the space has remained empty since. Caesars Entertainment, owner of Planet Hollywood, submitted building plans for a $750,000 Chick-fil-A to be built. Construction started the third week of April and it is scheduled to open in late 2019.
Slogan: “We Didn’t Invent the Chicken, Just the Chicken Sandwich,” refers to their flagship menu item, the Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich. All Chick-fil-A restaurants are closed for business on Sundays, as well as on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. This new Planet Hollywood location will also be closed on those days.

Chick-fil-A at the Golden Nugget Construction Update
The construction walls have been removed for a new Chick-fil-A being built at the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino in Downtown Las Vegas. They have been replaced with black curtains. The Chick-fil-A is located near the Carson Tower. It will open the first week of December. The Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino is owned by Landry’s Inc.

“I Love Sugar” in the Linq Promenade Construction Update
Construction of I Love Sugar in the Linq Promenade on the Las Vegas Strip has been taking place for over a year and it has been slow. That has changed recently and they are moving at a fast pace. It will span 14,000 square feet and is being billed by Caesars Entertainment as the largest candy experience in the world.

New Pedestrian Bridge over Las Vegas Strip Update
Construction continues on the new pedestrian bridge over the Las Vegas Strip from Park MGM to the Hard Rock Cafe. This bridge is needed because of the added foot traffic from T-Mobile Arena, Park Theater and nearby casinos.
The bridge is now expected to open by mid-November because of utility conflicts tied to the escalators. Construction began in November 2018 and originally was expected to finish in July. The next pedestrian bridge is slated to to connect the area in front of Bellagio to the area leading to Planet Hollywood Resort.
Additional plans call for bridges to stretch across Las Vegas Boulevard between Caesars Palace and the Linq, and at Resorts World Las Vegas, but those projects don’t have timelines. In 2020, they plan construction on four more pedestrian bridges crossing Sahara Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard, on the far north end of the Strip.
Target being built on the Las Vegas Strip Update
Construction continues on the first Target Department Store being built on the Las Vegas Strip. It is located directly across from Park MGM. This project is moving fast and should open in late 2020. This will be a gold mine.
