Uniquely Vegas is a series of articles and photos that VegasChanges.com is composing to showcase the many unique and offbeat things to see and do in the Las Vegas Valley, as well as day trips and more.
On this venture we are visiting Mystic Falls Park at Sam’s Town Hotel & Gambling Hall on Boulder Highway. Is it worth a visit (see below)?
Sam’s Town opened in 1979 on the east side of the city as one of the first casinos to cater to Las Vegas “locals”. In 1994 they added a 650-room hotel tower that has a 10-story indoor atrium, know as Mystic Falls Park.
It features a massive cliff waterfall with animatronic animals, live trees, vegetation, birds chirping, all underneath a giant skylight atrium. Inside there are restaurants, logo shop and The Ram’s Head Bar, where you can relax with a refreshing cocktail.
Mystic Falls Park has a free laser water fountain show that takes place at 4pm (Fri-Sun) and 6, 8 and 10pm daily. From late November to early January it becomes a winter wonderland with a holiday-themed show and more.
Is it worth a visit? Maybe. If you happen to be visiting Sam’s Town with their very large casino, bingo hall, 56-lane bowling center, 18-screen movie theater and other entertainment options. I would not make a special trip to see Mystic Falls Park (except during the holiday season). It is free and open 24/7 and gets you out of the elements, hot in the summer and cold in the winter.
