This week, two pedestrian bridges on the Las Vegas Strip have closed. They will remain closed for several months while crews prepare for the upcoming implosion and debris removal of the Tropicana Hotel & Casino.

The Tropicana closed to make way for a possible Major League Baseball Stadium to be built on a portion of the site for the Oakland Athletics relocation to Las Vegas for the 2028 season.

The closed pedestrian bridges allowed people to walk from the MGM Grand Resort & Casino to the Tropicana and from the Excalibur Hotel & Casino to the Tropicana. The bridge closures will really affect foot traffic to OYO Hotel & Casino.

The Tropicana Hotel & Casino had a 67-year run on the Las Vegas Strip, from April 4, 1957 to April 2, 2024. The implosion will be done by the contracted demolition company, Controlled Demolition, at the earliest September 30 and should be completed by October 8.

The Tropicana will be the first Strip resort to be imploded since the Riviera in 2016.
