The Arts District or 18b is located in Downtown Las Vegas. It was created in 1998 as an 18 block zone set aside to encourage art and artists. It has since expanded beyond the original 18 blocks.
The 18b is located halfway between the Fremont East Entertainment district and the STRAT Hotel, Casino & Skypod, clustered around Main Street and Charleston Blvd. (Map is posted below).
It contains a mix of independent businesses including art galleries, museums, vintage clothing boutiques, antique stores, hair salons, residences, coffee houses, restaurants, breweries, bars and more. Many of the buildings feature exterior artistic displays. Businesses in the Arts District 18b
The Arts District hosts a First Friday art walk on the first Friday of every month (5pm – 11pm). First Friday offers an eclectic group of artists as well as entertainers of all types, including local bands, theatrical and performance artists, food trucks, food vendors and much more. First Friday Parking: Park at the City of Las Vegas parking garage, 500 S. Main St., and take the shuttle to and from First Friday. The shuttle runs from 3pm to midnight. Additional parking is at 1000 Commerce Street and 902 South Casino Blvd.
The Las Vegas Community Healing Garden is located near the Arts District. It was built in four days by community members and local businesses following the October 1 tragedy at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival. The garden features a Remembrance Wall, a grove of 58 trees lining a paved path, shrubs and flowers, all encircling a beautiful oak tree – “the tree of life” donated by Siegfried and Roy. The 58 trees were planted to signify the 58 lives lost on that tragic evening. Painted rocks, flowers, pictures, and other mementos placed by community members offering their condolences, prayers, and remembrance of loved ones can be found at the trees and all around the garden. 1015 S Casino Center Blvd. Open 7am – 11pm daily.
Getting to the Arts District: If coming from the Las Vegas Strip, you can take the Deuce RTC Bus. From Fremont Street, you can take the free Downtown Loop. From around the Las Vegas Valley, you can take many RTC Buses to the Bonneville Transit Center and walk to the Arts District or connect to the Downtown Loop (Sunday-Thursday 11am to 6pm and Friday-Saturday 3-10pm).
