Pop superstar Katy Perry is receiving another honor from Las Vegas officials.
The Fremont Street Experience said via Twitter that the new Katy Perry “Viva Vision” show is set to premiere on Saturday, May 27 with a special appearance from Perry herself, at 11:30pm at the Main Street Stage.
Last summer, Perry was also given the key to the Las Vegas Strip. Her grandmother was a seamstress and her dad was a chauffeur in Las Vegas. Her parents also met and got married in Las Vegas.
During her “Katy Perry: PLAY” residency at Resorts World, Perry told the audience that her aunt was a showgirl at the Stardust as part of the “Folies Bergere” revue. Resorts World, where she currently performs, is on the old Stardust site.
Problem with that is, “Folies Bergere” was performed at the Tropicana from 1959-2009. “Lido de Paris” was performed at the Stardust from 1958-1991. Perhaps she misspoke, but it is a fun fact that her aunt was a Las Vegas showgirl.
Congratulations Katy Perry! Expect a huge crowd.
