Akhob by James Turrell
Akhob, by James Turrell, is one of Las Vegas’ hidden gems – a stunningly delightful art installation tucked away on the top floor of the Louis Vuitton store at The Shops at Crystals.
To make a reservation, call (702) 730-3150. The reservations are always booked for six to eight weeks ahead, so call well in advance. They are open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 5pm. You will be required to sign a three-page release form and to remove your shoes when entering the installation. Website
Anderson Dairy Tour
This special “Barnyard Buddies” Tour has been created, complete with animatronic animals, farm scenery and colorful lighting to help them tell the story of Anderson Dairy & Las Vegas. Adjacent to the Atlantis Show is the Atlantis Aquarium. Unique species of tropical fish life can be found in the 50,000-gallon saltwater aquarium. Website
Aquarium at the Silverton
Yup, it’s a water attraction in the desert. Named the “Best Free Attraction in Las Vegas,” the Silverton Las Vegas aquarium holds more than 117,000 gallons of water, and it’s home to thousands of tropical fish.
The mermaids have been featured in the media over the years and they have even assisted with Project Mermaids, a non-profit organization helping to bring awareness to the “Save Our Beach Foundation”. Website

Aviation Museum at Harry Reid International Airport
Howard W. Cannon Aviation Museum is a joint project of Clark County Parks and Recreation and Department of Aviation and is located in Harry Reid International Airport. Visitors can observe the history of commercial and general aviation in southern Nevada, from the first flight in 1920 through the introduction of jets. The Museum’s main exhibit is located above baggage claim with additional exhibits throughout terminal 1. There is also an exhibit displayed at the Henderson Executive Airport and North Las Vegas Airport. Website
Bauman Rare Books at the Grand Canal Shoppes
Natalie and David Bauman founded Bauman Rare Books in 1973, and they have a location in the Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian Resort & Casino. From the start, the gallery has received high praise as a truly unusual addition to the roster of Las Vegas attractions. Website
Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens
The Bellagio Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip has the very popular Conservatory & Botanical Garden that is open 24/7 and is a free attraction. It is located next to the hotel lobby.
The conservatory measures 14,000 square feet and they change the displays five times a year. Lunar (Chinese) New Year, spring, summer, fall and winter (Holiday/Christmas).
The Bellagio Resort has a horticulture staff of 120 that maintain the Botanical Gardens and the entire grounds of Bellagio. Link to Bellagio displays over the years.
Big Elvis Show at Harrah’s
Pete “Big Elvis” Vallee performs in the Piano Bar afternoons on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday (2pm, 3:30pm and 5pm). Tip: Be sure to stop in to watch “Big Elvis”, he puts on a great free show. Be sure to purchase a drink or two to keep this great show free. Link to “Big Elvis” at Harrah’s over the years.
Blarney Stone at The D
The Blarney Stone, one of two good luck charms located at The D, upholds a long-standing Irish tradition. The stone at the D is a chunk of the original Blarney Stone and was gifted to the casino nearly 30 years ago. It is said that those who suspend themselves upside down and kiss the Blarney Stone (as the luck-seekers did in Ireland) will be blessed with good luck in their futures. While it may be challenging to suspend yourself in the middle of a Las Vegas casino, you can still kiss the Blarney Stone for good luck without making the trek to Ireland. Casino patrons wary of sharing germs with other gamblers can simply rub the stone to receive good fortune. Website
Boat Ride to/from the Riverside Resort in Laughlin
This is a free boat ride, not to be confused with the regular Water Taxi service which runs from casino to casino, up and down the Colorado river, in Laughlin. This shuttle boat only goes from the Bullhead City dock to the Riverside Resort & Casino dock. It runs during the day and evening. Website
Bonnie and Clyde’s Death Car & Exhibition at Buffalo Bill’s
See the authentic bullet-riddled Ford V-8 that the infamous duo Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were in when police gunned them down in Louisiana in 1934.
In early 1934 Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow stole a V8 Ford and drove it around the Midwest, robbing and killing people. That joyride ended when lawmen punctured the car (and Bonnie and Clyde) with over 100 armor-piercing bullets.
This amazing exhibition displays the authentic V-8 Ford and recreates the crime scene with showroom dummies of the duo posing next to the car, with their weapons ready to shoot. Located in Buffalo Bill’s Casino in Primm, Nevada. Website
Botanical Gardens at Wynn
The botanical gardens inside the Wynn Resort are an oasis in the middle of a casino. You can walk through a canopy of living trees, hanging flower balls and other greenery. The floral carousel is 13 feet tall, 16 feet wide and weighs 6,000 pounds. Great photo op. Website
Boulder City/Hoover Dam Museum
The Boulder City/Hoover Dam Museum tells the story of the men and women who braved the desolation of the southern Nevada desert to build Hoover Dam and settle Boulder City. They feature a story of American ambition, vision and grit. Built during the Great Depression and as the Dust Bowl ravaged the American heartland, the engineering and construction marvel that is Hoover Dam also served as a beacon of hope – signaling a brighter future. The Brahma Shrine at Caesars Palace
Not exactly what one would expect to find on the Las Vegas Strip, which makes it all the more intriguing.
The Buddha statue was cast in Bangkok, Thailand, in 1983. It is located next to Hell’s Kitchen at Caesars Palace. Website

Buddha Statues at The California Hotel and Aria Resort
There are a few places to rub Buddha’s belly for good luck in Las Vegas, the most popular being the laughing Buddha at The California Hotel and at ARIA. One look at the faded metal of these Buddha bellies will tell you that Vegas visitors have been practicing this tradition for many years. It’s said that those who leave gifts like cash and other goodies and then rub the belly will receive good fortune. Smaller Buddhas can be found throughout the city, but these two are the most widely known. Website

Caesars Palace Resort & Casino in Las Vegas is home to over 18 fountains and dozens of statues throughout the property. One statue of David in the interior is an exact replica of an early 16th-century Michelangelo masterpiece, standing 18 feet high and weighing over nine tons. Website
Calico Basin Red Springs
This is the portion of the Red Rock Canyon National Park that you don’t have to pay to get into. The area features spectacular red and white sandstone cliffs and as the name implies, there are many natural springs that feed the abundant vegetation and attract a variety of interesting wildlife. The exhibits in City Hall Chamber Gallery are focused on topics of interest related to the downtown culture as well as cultural diversity. The exhibits are mostly group and focused on local community based artists. City of Las Vegas Showgirl Sign
A short distance from the gateway arches is the showgirl sign that features dice, poker chips stacked high enough to sit on, a roulette wheel, the city of Las Vegas logo and 50-foot-tall showgirls on the corner of Main Street and Las Vegas Boulevard. Elements of the sign light up, so it’s gorgeous in the daytime or at night. Bonus – this hidden gem on Las Vegas Boulevard next to The STRAT is hardly ever as crowded as most of the other outdoor spots. This photography spot out-Vegases any other selfie spot in the city. The sign is located at 1810 Las Vegas Blvd. South. These new showgirl signs are double the height of the prior showgirl icons installed in 2018, which each stood 26 feet tall. Website

Clark County Wetlands Park spans 2,900 acres on the eastern edge of the Las Vegas Valley. With a 210-acre Nature Preserve and five Trailheads, the Park provides recreation opportunities and wildlife habitat as well as an outdoor classroom for scientific studies and educational programs for all ages. Colorado River Museum
The Colorado River Museum building is an important historical landmark. It was built in 1947 to serve the population of workers who were building Davis Dam. You’ll find interesting displays, artifacts and memorabilia of the area and the history of the people that made it all happen. Desert National Wildlife Refuge
Open from dawn to dusk. Visitor Center is open Labor Day – Memorial Day Thu-Mon 8am-4pm, Directions from Las Vegas: Take US-95 North. 6 miles (9.5 km) past the Snow Mountain exit, at mile marker 101, turn right on Corn Creek Road. Continue down the paved road 4 miles to the Visitor Center. Website

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas has an award-winning digital art display in the hotel lobby. It features a continuous display of a digital art library in eight 15-foot columns. Website
Don Laughlin’s Classic Car Museums
Visit the Classic Car Museum Auto Exhibit at the Riverside Resort in Laughlin, Nevada that features over 80 of the world’s most distinctive automobiles. The exhibit is a rotating collection of antique, classic and unique autos assembled from private collections from all over the world. Included among these are several owned by Don Laughlin himself, an avid auto enthusiast and collector. Don Laughlin’s Classic Car Collection has something for Everyone.
It is housed in two separate areas on the resort property. The exhibits are open seven days a week and admission is FREE with your King of Clubs Players’ Club Card or $3 per person if you do not have a Players Club Card. Website

The Downtown Loop operates Sunday-Thursday 11am to 6pm and Friday-Saturday 3-10pm. The Loop runs continuously during operating hours and arrives at each stop every 20 to 30 minutes.
Dueling Piano Shows
There are dueling piano shows at the following casinos: The Bar at Times Square in New York-New York, The Piano Bar at Harrah’s and Eastside Lounge at Encore. Admission fees could apply, but you can always listen from the casino for free. If you enter, it is best to order a drink or two to keep these shows free.
Eiffel Tower Light Show
Inspired by the Eiffel Tower’s illuminations in France, the enhanced lighting at the Paris Las Vegas attraction offers a free, recurring light show every 30 minutes from sunset to midnight. Website
El Cortez
Sinatra. Presley. Ali. Siegel. These legends left an everlasting mark on Las Vegas and helped our once-small town become the international landmark it is today. Come experience their glory and marvel at the growth of Las Vegas with a stroll through their History Hallway – located right off the casino floor in the El Cortez Hotel & Casino. The display is in a partnership with the Mob Museum.
Also, be sure to see some displays with the history of the El Cortez. It is located by the Club Cortez booth. Website
Elvis Statue at Westgate
The statue of The King has proven to be a popular spot for luck seekers eager to strike it big in Vegas. Rubbing the statue before entering the casino has been a long-standing ritual of luck since the statue’s creation. Though visitors deem the entire statue lucky, Elvis’s ringed left hand seems to be a favorite spot for conjuring a hunk of burning luck. Website
Equestrian Events at South Point
The South Point Equestrian Center is the finest indoor horse facility in the country. Their complex includes a 4,600-seat arena, the Priefert Pavilion with two arenas, and 1,200 climate controlled horse stalls. These components allow the South Point Equestrian Center to proudly host some of the most prestigious equestrian events in the world. Many events are free. Website
Ethel M Chocolates & Cactus Garden
This is the best chocolate experience in Las Vegas (actually in Henderson, Nevada). They offer a free self-guided factory tour, three-acre cactus garden and gourmet gift shop. Website
Extraterrestrial Highway, UFO’s and Area 51
Take a drive 100 miles north of Las Vegas on the “Extraterrestrial Highway” (State Route 375) to Rachel, Nevada (population 48). That is the closest place to Area 51, perhaps the most famous top-secret air bases on the planet. You might spot an ET or UFO? Be sure to visit the Alien Research Center Gift Shop and the The Little A’Le’Inn.
Warning: Do not attempt to enter Area 51. The Federal Government has signs posted that trespassers may be subject to deadly force.

“Fiori di Como” by Dale Chihuly at the Bellagio
At 70 feet by 30 feet by 12 feet, “Fiori di Como” is the largest glass sculpture ever made. Walking into the lobby of the Bellagio and seeing the Chihuly sculpture suspended from the ceiling is truly an awe-inspiring experience. Website
First Friday
A majority of Las Vegans know First Friday. It is a monthly event that showcases local artists, musicians, makers and more. They provide a platform where everyone can celebrate the local culture and creativity in all its forms. While they are best known for their monthly arts & culture festival held in the Las Vegas Arts District, the First Friday Foundation extends its community outreach efforts well beyond the first Friday of each month. Floral Atrium at The Mirage
Inside The Mirage front entrance, you’ll enjoy an extraordinary experience – a lush and verdant indoor rainforest housed under a 100-foot-high dome. Palm trees reach 60 feet above cascading waterfalls. Lagoons meander through a forest of rich tropical flora including bird of paradise trees, orchids and bromeliads. Website
Fontainebleau Las Vegas Fine Art Collection

Fountain Show at Wynn
In the front of the Wynn Resort on the Las Vegas Strip they have a nice fountain show with music and lights. They also have a waterfall, that is a great place to take some photos. Website
Fremont Street Experience
The Fremont Street Experience (FSE) is located in Downtown Las Vegas. It is a pedestrian mall and attraction with a light show and live entertainment. The FSE starts at Main Street and ends at Las Vegas Blvd. The hotel casinos that pay for the FSE are Binion’s Gambling Hall, California, Circa, The D, Four Queens, Fremont, Golden Gate, Golden Nugget and Main Street Station. The FSE opened in 1995.
The Fremont Street Experience has three stages with live bands, dancing DJ’s and more. Most of these are “cover” bands and many are very good. Some of the bands include Spandex Nation, Monroy, Alter Ego, ’80’s Station, Crush, Garage Boys, Tony Marques, Zowie Bowie, Wonder Boogie, VCB, Empire Records, Rock Steady, Roxy Gun Project, Blue String Theory and many more.
Several times a year they have big name bands that play. An example of this would be when the National Finals Rodeo comes to town each December. They will feature Country Music bands on all three stages. The stages are on Main Street, 1st Street and 3rd Street.
The Viva Vision light show is an LED display on the “canopy” that runs along the Fremont Street Experience from Main Street to Fourth Street. It features different shows at the top of each hour from 6pm to 2am.
Current Viva Vision shows include: The Killers, Imagine Dragons – Home in Vegas, Shakira, Remix Your Mind: “MIXology”, The Chainsmokers, Stone Temple Pilots, Tiesto – A Town Called Paradise, Steve Aoki and others.
Because of the recent upgrade of the LED screen, programming now runs 24/7, for the first time in the history of Viva Vision. The Viva Vision screen is 1,375 feet long, 90 feet wide and suspended 90 feet above Fremont Street’s renowned pedestrian mall. Website

Gold Strike Hot Springs Trail
The most popular way to access the trailhead is off Highway 93. Park your vehicle in the free parking lot near the trailhead, then embark on a gravel trail that begins just before the Hoover Dam Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. From here, the trail descends down through Gold Strike Canyon all the way to the mighty Colorado River. The entirety of the Gold Strike Hot Springs trail is about two miles one way, but does incorporate a series of 20-foot rope climbs that are well beyond beginner level. Plan for about 3-4 hours of hiking and scrambling time in each direction, or a full day adventure if you really want to soak up this spring’s full potential. Website

Grapevine Canyon Petroglyphs
The Grapevine Canyon Petroglyphs are located in Grapevine Canyon on Spirit Mountain near Laughlin, Nevada, and are listed on the United States National Register of Historic Places. The area is also known as Christmas Tree Pass. A short hike will reveal hundreds of panels of petroglyphs created between 1100-1900 AD and many rock shelters. Both the meaning of the glyphs and their creators remains unclear although the area was inhabited by the Mojave.

Hand of Faith at the Golden Nugget
In the September, 1980, Kevin Hillier took his new metal detector out for a spin in his tiny hometown of Wedderburn, Australia. Instead of a bottle cap or a paper clip, he found a 61-pound golden nugget barely a foot underground. Today, it makes its home in the Golden Nugget lobby.
The Hand of Faith is the biggest golden nugget in existence, the second-biggest ever discovered, and the biggest ever found with a metal detector. (And in case you’re wondering, Hillier made out just fine. He sold his golden nugget to the Golden Nugget for over a million dollars.) Website
Hemenway Valley Park in Boulder City
This park is comprised of approximately 10 acres and includes playground equipment, gazebos, basketball courts, horseshoe pits and more. One of this park’s main attractions is the Bighorn sheep that come down from the mountains to water and graze. Las Vegas Community Healing Garden
Open 7am-11pm daily. It was built in four days by community members and local businesses following the October 1 tragedy at the Route 91 Harvest music festival. The garden features a Remembrance Wall, a grove of 58 trees lining a paved path, shrubs and flowers, all encircling a beautiful oak tree – “the tree of life” donated by Siegfried and Roy. The 58 trees were planted to signify the 58 lives lost on that tragic evening. The Manneken Pis fountain at The D was unveiled in 2015 and has since attracted the attention of locals and tourists alike for its peculiar design. The fountain replicates a famous statue in Brussels of a boy that appears to be urinating. Despite its head-tilt-worthy nature, the fountain is said to be lucky for those who toss a coin in. In fact, the very first person to throw a coin in the fountain in 2015 won $1,000 at a nearby casino. Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge
Experience some of the best views of Hoover Dam from Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. The striking arch overpass connects Arizona to Nevada over the Colorado River, and at 900 feet, it is the second tallest bridge in the USA, and located within the Lake Mead Recreational Area. Also known as the Hoover Dam Bypass, the bridge was completed in 2010, is free and easy to access, offering a bird’s eye perspective of the famed attraction. Website

The Nevada National Security Site offers free tours monthly. Tours are operated on a chartered bus with a restroom. Visitors depart the museum and travel 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, where you will cover nearly 250 miles of the Site. This is a very popular tour. Make reservations several months in advance. “Pawn Stars” TV-Show Pawn Shop
The shop is open every day from 10am – 5:30pm, they are only closed on Christmas and Thanksgiving, and the Pawn Window for selling is open 24 hours a day. It is always free to visit the Pawn Shop and parking is also free. They are one of the top non-gaming tourist attractions so you can easily just take a cab or ride share here as well. Feel free to take as many pictures as you wish, however due to state law they ask that you refrain from taking pictures toward the pawn counter on your immediate left as you enter and no videos in the shop. A large piece of the Berlin Wall is prominently exhibited inside the men’s room at the Main Street Station Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Men can “pee” on the wall. Women can view it with a security escort. Website
Pinball Hall of Fame
They opened April 15, 2021 at it’s new location at 4925 S Las Vegas Blvd. It is now twice the size of the old Tropicana PHoF location. The new site is on the Las Vegas Strip, right across from the ‘Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign (and right across from the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino). This brand new building is standalone and a dedicated museum, with pinball and nothing but pinball for 25,000 square feet.

Pioneer Saloon in Goodsprings
The historic Pioneer Saloon is now the oldest bar in all of the Las Vegas area / Southern Nevada. It has survived the Spanish Flu, World War I, The Great Depression, Prohibition, World War II, The Great Recession and most recently, Covid-19. The property was made a Nevada historical landmark in 2007. The saloon, now famous around the world, is featured in numerous movies, music videos, TV shows, and even a video game. Railroad Pass Casino “Safe Room”
Railroad Pass opened as the Railroad Pass Club in 1931. It is the longest operating casino in Nevada. The casino was popular with Boulder Dam construction workers who lived in Boulder City, where alcohol and gambling were prohibited.

This Stonehenge-inspired solar calendar stands alongside a landfill, in the middle of the Nevada desert. RyanHenge shares the property with the Western Elite Landfill, which is located about an hour north of North Las Vegas, and 30 minutes south of Alamo along the Great Basin Highway. No admission is required to access.
Searchlight Museum
Located in the Searchlight Community Center, the museum focuses on the fascinating history of this 100+ year old community. Founded in 1898, Searchlight takes its name from the Searchlight Mine. Mining history is a prominent part of the museums’ offerings, in addition to the many interesting residents of the community. Such people as Edith Head, who won numerous Academy Awards for her movie costume designs, John Macready, one of the two pilots on the first non-stop cross country flight over the United States, as well as the only three-time winner of the Mackay Trophy for the most important flight in a year, Senator Harry Reid, U.S. Senator from Nevada, and Scott Joplin, whose song, the Searchlight Rag, is named for the community, and many others have created a rich history which can be viewed in the exhibits. Covering the entire history of the community, the museum is a great way to learn about the people, businesses, and events which have made the desert community what it is today. Website
Seven Magic Mountains
Internationally renowned Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone’s Seven Magic Mountains is a large-scale site-specific public art installation located near Jean Dry Lake and Interstate 15, approximately ten miles south of Las Vegas, Nevada. Comprised of seven towers of colorful, stacked boulders standing more than thirty feet high, Seven Magic Mountains is situated within the Ivanpah Valley adjacent to Sheep Mountain and the McCullough, Bird Spring, and Goodsprings ranges of mountains. A creative expression of human presence in the desert, Seven Magic Mountains punctuates the Mojave with a poetic burst of form and color. Website
Shelby Museum & Showroom
Established in 2013, Shelby Heritage Center is home to over 30 Shelby vehicles and tells the story of Carroll Shelby along with the company he started in 1962. The Heritage Center is constantly revising its vehicle inventory and placement to keep things fresh. The 15,000 square foot Heritage Center sits adjacent to the 150,000 square-foot production facility.

Siren’s Cove at Treasure Island is a replica of an 18th-century sea village with two ships and several fountains. The shows are long gone, but the ships remain. You can also see the Siren’s of TI Chopper, located by the cashiers cage in the casino. Website
Tupac Shakur Makeshift Memorial
Tupac Shakur, an American rapper, was fatally shot on September 7, 1996, in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas. He was 25 years old. Shakur and his entourage watched Mike Tyson defeat Bruce Seldon at the MGM Grand Garden Arena that night. He was staying at the Luxor Hotel & Casino.
The shooting occurred at 11:15pm, when the car carrying Shakur was stopped at a red light at East Flamingo Road and Koval Lane. A makeshift memorial remains at that spot since his death on a few utility poles. It is situated beside the billboard on the southern side of Flamingo Road.
Vegas Vickie

Woolly Mammoth Tusk at Treasure Island
It took artisans during the Ming Dynasty (14th-17th centuries) more than 100 years to carve elephants, fish, pagodas, lilies, umbrellas and a bevy of tiny warriors into a 30,000-year-old woolly mammoth tusk. Now, the magnificent treasure sits unheralded in a display case next to the cashiers cage in the Treasure Island casino. Website
World’s Brightest Light Beam at Luxor
The Luxor Sky Beam is the strongest beam of light in the world. It is so powerful that it’s visible to air travelers in Los Angeles, the single beam is created by 39 individual xenon lights with 7,000-watt bulbs. The lights are located in a room 50 feet below the tip of the pyramid and, when on, bring the temperature of the room to upwards of 300°F. Website
