On Friday, April 24 the lights turned on for the first time at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The domed stadium is state-of-the-art and seats 65,000 for football. The new stadium is called Allegiant Stadium, for the airline that is based in Las Vegas.
- The Las Vegas Raiders play their home games at Allegiant Stadium, that is right off the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. The Raiders play in the National Football League (NFL) in the AFC West division. The Raiders play on grass.
- The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Rebels Football Team play their home games in Allegiant Stadium that they share with the Las Vegas Raiders. The Rebels formally played at Sam Boyd Stadium. The Rebels play on FieldTurf.
- The Mitsubishi Motors Las Vegas Bowl is played in late December after Christmas in Allegiant Stadium. The game features a team from the Pac-12 Conference vs. a team from either the SEC or Big Ten Conference. Since 1992, the Las Vegas Bowl was played at Sam Boyd Stadium.
