Vdara Hotel & Spa Photos, Tips and Details:
Vdara Hotel & Spa is located in CityCenter on the Las Vegas Strip. Vdara is a condo-hotel that does not have a casino. It opened on December 1, 2009 with 1,495 suites in a 57 story tower in a crescent-shaped structure that is formed by three parallel, offset arcs of varying heights.
It features a two-story spa, salon and fitness center. Dining options are very limited at the Vdara since the only restaurant, Silk Road closed March 8, 2011. They now have the Market Café at Vdara and the Vice Versa Bar. The Vdara Hotel & Spa is a non-smoking property that also has a 40,000 square-foot pool and deck area.
The hotel’s name (pronounced “vuh-DAH-ruh”) was thought up by the property’s original design-group. The “V” in Vdara stands for “Vegas” and “ara” is meant to evoke established high-end boutique hotels, such as the Aviara or Bacara. The Vdara Hotel & Spa is operated by MGM Resorts International and they are a Marriott Bonvoy Hotel.
Tip: Vdara Hotel & Spa is located next to the ARIA, Bellagio and Cosmopolitan resorts, so there are many gaming and dining options available nearby. It is also located near the Crystals (high end) shopping center, also in CityCenter.
Fun Fact: When Vdara opened the hotel’s curved design reflected a “death ray” when the sun hit the glass at a certain angle. The building was a giant magnifying glass, sending a hot ray onto the pool area. But the hotel found a simple fix: umbrellas and the glass exterior was covered with non-reflective film. Problem solved.
Tip: There is a free tram that runs between Vdara, Bellagio, The Shops at Crystals, Aria and Park MGM. There is also an indoor walkway from Vdara to Bellagio and The Cosmopolitan. RTC Bus Route: DEUCE
