The Plaza Hotel & Casino is located in Downtown Las Vegas at the beginning of the Fremont Street Experience. It opened on July 2, 1971, as the Union Plaza. At the time Amtrak had a train station at the Plaza, that ended in 1997. The theme is “Classic Las Vegas”.

They have 1,003 rooms and suites, with standard rooms measuring 325 square-feet and suites measure between 500-1,000 square-feet. Rooms are located in two hotel towers, North and South. Tip: High floors in the south tower are usually the least noisy.

The Pool at the Plaza is open year-round on a 70,000 square-foot rooftop deck with a heated pool, hot tub, cabanas, bar and food truck. Also on the deck are 12 pickleball courts that are open 9am-6pm daily.

They also have the Plaza Gym, UPS business center, wedding chapel, floral shop and two stores.

The Plaza has 80,000 square-feet of gaming space with 700 slot and video poker machines. The casino pit has 21 table games, including Blackjack, Roulette, Craps, Pai Gow Poker, Let It Ride, 3 Card Poker, Ultimate Texas Hold’em Poker and more. Tip: They have single zero roulette and other player friendly casino games.

In June 2023, they opened a new smoke-free casino space, originally named for online influencer Brian Christopher.

They have the only Bingo Hall in downtown Las Vegas that seats 280 and has sessions from 11am to 9pm daily (at the top of each odd hour). They also have a William Hill Sports Book, live Keno and they use the Plaza Rewards loyalty card.

Tip: Be sure to see the displays of the history of this hotel casino when it was the Union Plaza on the second floor, next to Oscar’s Steakhouse. Also take a look at the statue of Oscar Goodman and Tony “The Ant” Spilotro (photos at the bottom of page).

They have a 600 seat “Classic” Showroom and over 30,000 square-feet of meeting and event space, including the 19,000 square-foot Sierra Ballroom.

Fun Fact: The Plaza was built on the site considered the “birthplace” of Las Vegas, where early travelers came for land auctions.

Fun Fact 2: The Plaza has been featured in many movies over the years, including Casino, Back to the Future Part II, Pay It Forward, The Hangover Part 3 and many more. The Killers 2017 music video for The Man was filmed at the Plaza.
