The California Hotel & Casino (The Cal) is located in Downtown Las Vegas, one block from the Fremont Street Experience. It opened in 1975 and the theme is Hawaii.
The Cal generally caters to an older crowd and is Pure Aloha on the Ninth Island – Las Vegas! They are connected to Main Street Station (sister property) with an indoor overhead walkway.
There are two hotel towers with a total of 781 rooms and suites that were remodeled in 2017. Deluxe rooms measure 284-square-feet and come with a mini-refrigerator.
They have an outdoor rooftop pool that is open seasonally, fitness center, arcade and several shops. There is an Enterprise car rental at Main Street Station.
The Cal has 36,000 square-feet of gaming space with many of the latest slot, video poker and keno machines. Tip: Some slot machines still take coins. They have 21 tables in the casino pit with the most popular table games, including Blackjack, Roulette, Craps and more.
They have a Keno Lounge that is open from 7am to 10pm daily and sports betting takes place at the Cal Sports Book. They are owned by Boyd Gaming, and Boyd Rewards is their loyalty program.

Fun Fact: The Cal has the “Golden Arm” for players that can shoot craps for over an hour without “crapping out”. If they succeed, they receive a plaque. In 1989, the casino designated the term “Golden Arm”, after Stanley Fujitake rolled dice for three hours and six minutes without losing.
