Ellis Island Casino & Hotel is located less than a half a mile from the Las Vegas Strip. It is a 10 min walk from Horseshoe Las Vegas and caters to Las Vegas “locals”.
They opened in 1967 as Village Pub and became Ellis Island Casino & Brewery in 1985 (adding Hotel to the name in 2014).
The hotel was branded Super 8 by Wyndham until 2017, when it received a full remodel and became independent. It features 289 rooms and 12 suites. Standard rooms measure approximately 250 square-feet and come with a mini-refrigerator and coffee maker.
They have an outdoor pool and hot tub that is open seasonally.
In August 2025, they expanded the casino, almost doubling the size. It now has around 250 slot, keno and video poker machines. The casino pit has blackjack, craps and roulette with low table minimums and good rules for the player.
Boomer’s Sportsbook opened their first Las Vegas location at Ellis Island in August 2025. The Passport Players Club is their loyalty program.

Their nightly karaoke is very popular and features a state-of-the-art sound system and over 50,000 songs to choose from.
Fun Fact: Ellis Island formerly had a Brewpub on-site. They still brew their own craft beers off-site at their Silver Reef Brewing Company, in St. George, Utah.
Ellis Island is owned by the Ellis family, and they have some of the friendliest employees in Las Vegas.
