Fun Fact: As a component of a $40 million public art initiative launched by MGM Resorts, various works by renowned artists have been commissioned and acquired to enhance Las Vegas’s reputation as a hub for the art community. Notably, Maya Lin’s piece is an 84-foot cast of the Colorado River, which is suspended above the check-in desk in the ARIA Resort lobby. This artwork is titled “Silver River”. (See photo below).
Fun Fact 2: The largest chainsaw art piece in the world, which weighs 3,000 pounds and measures 25 feet in length, is located within Javier’s restaurant. The artist, J. Chester Armstrong, crafted five panels, each measuring 5 by 10 feet, that illustrate the Mayan Creation myth alongside contemporary Mexican history. This artwork features hundreds of dia de los muertos skeletons guiding visitors through a five-part narrative that transitions from the ominous Tree of Death to the redemptive Tree of Life. (See the photo below).
