Today, we are exploring some of the different street names in the Las Vegas Valley. From streets named for celebrities to some that have changed names over the years. Many are very unique and others are just wacky.
Las Vegas Boulevard was formerly know as Highway 91, Arrowhead Highway or Los Angeles Highway. The portion from Russell Rd to Sahara Ave is now called the Las Vegas Strip, named by a Los Angeles Police Officer for the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles.
Many of the streets that cross the Strip are named for current or former casinos. Sahara Ave (was San Francisco St), Desert Inn Rd (was Wilbur Clark D.I. Rd), Flamingo Ave (was Monson Rd), Tropicana Ave (was Bond Rd) and Hacienda Ave (portions are now called Mandalay Bay Rd).
Crossing Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas, there is 1st, 3rd, 4th, 6th streets, but no 2nd or 5th. 2nd Street is Casino Center Drive and 5th Street is Las Vegas Boulevard.

Streets Named for Star Wars Characters
Near Sandhill and Russell Roads you will find streets named for Star Wars characters, including: Vader Ave, Skywalker Ave, Tarkin Ave, Leia St and Kinobe Ave [sic].
Streets Named for Pokémon Characters
In Henderson, there are streets named for Pokémon characters, including: Jigglypuff Pl, Squirtle Ln, Snorlax Ln, Charmander Ln and Charizard Ln.
Streets Named for Beatles Songs
In Henderson, there is a neighborhood that has named its streets after Beatles songs. They include: Yesterday Dr, Magical Mystery Ln, Sergeant Peppers Ct, Hearts Club Dr, Norwegian Wood Ln, Lovely Rita Ct and Strawberry Fields Ln.
Streets Named for the Vegas Golden Knights
A North Las Vegas community has 30 streets named after players, coaches, and executives from the Vegas Golden Knights’ inaugural 2017–18 season. The main road is called Golden Knights Way. Some of the other streets include: Marc-Andre Fleury Rd, Ryan Reaves St, William Karlsson St, Gerard Gallant St, Malcolm Subban St, and more.
Wacky Street Names
There are some crazy street names in Las Vegas, but some of these are just wacky. These include: Hanky Panky St, Wild Thing Ct, Lovers Knot Ct, Romance Cir, Babys Tear Pl, Memory Ln, Windy Butte Way, Wholesome Ter, Fortifying Crest Ct, Elvis Alive Dr, Anchorman Way, Gamma Ray Pl, Sun Gazer St, etc. There are many, many more.
