Arcade Ready To Open in Historic Fremont Street Theater – PHOTOS

This week a brand new arcade is ready to open on the Fremont Street Experience in Downtown Las Vegas. The 7,000 square-foot arcade is called In The Game and will feature classic, video and virtual reality games.

In The Game has been under development for several years and is owned and operated by Illinois-based Family Entertainment Group. This will be their ninth location, with another Nevada location in Reno.

It was built in the historical El Portal Theatre on Fremont Street, that opened on June 21, 1928. It was the first building in Las Vegas to install air-conditioning. It closed in the late 1970’s and became a gift shop, later called Indian Arts & Crafts, which remained until 2018 when it moved next door.

The El Portal building was neglected and vandalized for a few years, with nothing being developed. Several proposed businesses were planned, including a food court with a Wahlburgers and Taco Bell Cantina, that did not materialize.

In The Game is geared for teenagers and adults and will serve food. They will be open 10am-2am daily.
