Uniquely Vegas is a series of articles and photos that VegasChanges.com is composing to showcase the many unique and offbeat things to see and do in the Las Vegas Valley, as well as day trips and more.

On this venture we are comparing the Las Vegas Premium Outlets North against the Las Vegas Premium Outlets South. Which is better (see below)?

Both outlet malls are owned by the same company, Simon Property Group, who also own The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace and The Shops at Crystals, in Las Vegas.

NORTH OUTLET MALL

The Premium Outlets North opened in 2003, on 40 acres in Downtown Las Vegas. This outdoor mall currently has over 180 stores with 60 market exclusive outlet brands. They claim to have designer and name-brand retailers offering savings up to 65% every day.

Some of the largest stores include Polo Ralph Lauren, Saks OFF 5TH, Forever 21, Nike, Columbia, Calvin Klein, Coach, Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors, Armani, Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace and many more. Restaurants include The Cheesecake Factory and over a dozen fast casual dining spots.

They charge $5 for self-parking, but “locals” and military park for free. The free Downtown Loop has a stop, as well as the RTC Bus routes CX, Deuce (connect with route 401 at the Bonneville Transit Center).

Some of the largest stores include Michael Kors, Coach, Movado, Kate Spade New York, Polo Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Levi’s, Gap, New Balance and many more. They have two food courts in the mall, but there are many restaurants that share the same parking lot.

Which Outlet Mall is better? It depends on what you are shopping for. Many of the same stores can be found at both outlets, but not all. Before choosing, do some research on what stores you are looking for.

If it is raining or 110 degrees outside, the South Outlet Mall wins. If it is a nice day, the North Outlet Mall wins.

The North Outlet Mall seems cleaner, easier to navigate without doubling back past the same stores, like a mall from the 1980’s.

Also, be aware some products at outlets may be inferior to those sold at a traditional store. Some items have the name brand on them, but were manufactured to be sold only at outlet stores. The prices are lower for a reason. Can bargains be found? Yes. Do some items look like bargains, but are not? Yes.
