Uniquely Vegas – Day Trip to Oatman, Arizona – PHOTOS

Uniquely Vegas is a series of articles and photos that VegasChanges.com is composing to showcase the many unique and offbeat things to see and do in the Las Vegas Valley and day trips.

Oatman, Arizona is a Wild West tourist attraction that was formerly a mining town from 1906 to 1942. It is located on historic Route 66 and the town has many unique stores, gift shops, museums and dining spots with cheeky names and wooden sidewalks.

The main attraction is the wild burros that wander the streets and surrounding area. They also have a staged shootout by the Oatman Ghost Rider Gunfighters with shows at 1:30pm and 3:30pm daily in the middle of Route 66.

Oatman has more burros than people. The human population was 102 in 2020.

Driving to Oatman from Las Vegas takes slightly over 2 hours. Is it worth the drive? I would say no, unless combining it with other nearby attractions, including the Black Mountains, Colorado River, Laughlin and other stops on Route 66.
