The New Year is fast approaching, and Las Vegas is ready to ring-in 2025 with a blast! Detailed information is listed below with what is happening, including fireworks, rules, tips and more.
The Las Vegas Strip
The New Year’s Eve 2024-2025 Fireworks on the Las Vegas Strip information has been announced. Like in years past, the entire four mile stretch of the Las Vegas Strip from Russell Road to Sahara Ave will be closed to vehicles. This includes all resorts from Mandalay Bay to the SAHARA Las Vegas. The closure should start around 5pm and it will not reopen until about 3am.
It is one of the largest annual New Year’s celebrations in the world. The Las Vegas Strip will turn into a pedestrian mall on New Year’s Eve and they expect over 340,000 people this year to visit Las Vegas. This year’s theme is “Making Vegas Memories”.
Fireworks will go off at midnight from the rooftops of:
- ARIA Resort & Casino
- Caesars Palace
- MGM Grand
- Planet Hollywood Resort
- The STRAT Hotel, Casino & Tower
- Treasure Island
- The Venetian Resort & Casino
- Resorts World Las Vegas
- Fontainebleau Las Vegas
The New York-based Fireworks by Grucci will launch over 80,000 fireworks choreographed to a thrilling musical score for 8 minutes over the Las Vegas Strip. It will be set to music from Icona Pop, Black-Eyed Peas, ZZ Top and others. The accompanying songs will be broadcast on local radio stations KOMP 92.3 or 97.1 The Point.
Prohibited items on the Las Vegas Strip on New Year’s Eve include strollers, carts, luggage, coolers, backpacks, guns, weapons, cannabis, purses, and any other type of bag larger than 12″ x 6″ x 12″. Drinking are allowed, but glass or metal containers are not.
Many Resorts will not allow people to enter their properties unless you are a hotel guest, have restaurant reservations or going to a nightclub or show. They are very strict on this. It is best to take the Las Vegas Monorail, Taxi, Uber or Lyft to get around.
Do Not Drink and Drive – Get a free ride. AAA’s Tipsy Tow program will offer a free ride up to 10 miles for tipsy motorists and their vehicles from 6pm Sunday, December 31 to 6am Monday, January 1, New Year’s Day. The service is available by calling 1-800-AAA-HELP (1-800-222-4357). No AAA membership is required.
The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) is offering free rides on all transit routes from 6pm on New Year’s Eve until 9am on New Year’s Day. Detour and route details are available online at rtcsnv.com/newyears.
Be mindful, the Nevada Department of Transportation will also close the following freeway ramps and streets on December 31 at 5pm, until the Strip reopens to vehicular traffic.

- I-15 south ramp to westbound and eastbound Tropicana
