The Mirage Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip reopened to the public on Thursday, August 27. The resort closed on March 17 when Gov. Steve Sisolak ordered all nonessential businesses including casinos to shut down to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

There were several changes throughout the property. The casino has much more distancing between gaming machines. One casino pit was removed and replaced with slot machines. Plexiglass barriers have been added on many table games in the casino pits. The Poker Room has been removed and replaced with a Non-Smoking Slot Room.

1Oak Nightclub has permanently closed and is now called Capri Lounge. The Terry Fator Theatre has been rebranded back to The Mirage Theatre. Valet parking remains closed, but they are offering free self parking. They renamed the street leading into the Mirage Siegfried & Roy Drive, for the magicians that performed at the resort from 1990-2003. Roy Horn died earlier this year, at the age of 75, due to complications from COVID-19.

The newly opened Snacks All Day Eatery is the replacement for the former Carnegie Deli. Other restaurants that have reopened include, Blizz Frozen Yogurt, Heritage Steak, Osteria Costa, Pantry, Paradise Cafe, Starbucks and The Still. Center Bar, Rhumbar and the Lobby Bar have reopened. Otoro, Diablo’s Cantina, Cravings Buffet, Stack, The Roasted Bean and California Pizza Kitchen remain closed.

The Mirage has a free Volcano Show in the front of the hotel. Shows are currently from 8pm to 11pm nightly at the top of each hour. A total of 120 FireShooters (cylinders that shoot fire) have been installed in the lagoon beneath the volcano’s main cone, with fire and water shooting 120 feet high.

The free Mirage to Treasure Island Tram is currently not operating. The Mirage is owned by MGM Resorts International. MGM Resorts only has Park MGM and NoMad Hotel left to reopen.
