All non-essential businesses in Nevada remain closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These include casinos, restaurants, bars and taverns.  With a website called VegasChanges.com, it is hard to post changes when everything is closed.

There are several construction projects that continue in Las Vegas. Current photos of these projects are listed below. There are also links to timeline photos and artist renderings of these projects.

Resorts World Las Vegas

Resorts World is a casino and resort currently under construction on the Las Vegas Strip across the street from the Encore Resort. It is owned and operated by the Genting Group, based in Malaysia. It is on the former Stardust Hotel and Casino site that was owned by Boyd Gaming. Boyd was going to build Echelon Place, but they stopped construction in 2008, due to the economic downturn.

Boyd sold the site to the Genting Group in 2013 for $350 Million. Resorts World Las Vegas will cost  $4.3 Billion  to build. It will have two hotel towers, with 3,500 rooms and suites, seven pools,  and over 110,000 square feet of gaming space. The theme will be a luxury experience “with Asian-inspired touches”. They plan to open in the summer of 2021. Link to timeline photos and artist renderings of Resorts World Las Vegas

Fremont Street Experience Remains Closed

The Fremont Street Experience remains closed and roped or boarded up. White Castle, Pizza Rock and Denny’s remain open near the canopy offering pick-up or delivery. There is a heavy security and Metro Police presence. There were a few people riding bikes, motorcycles and taking a walk.  There were very few homeless on Saturday April 18. Most casinos did not have locks on their doors, so they have secured them with chains and locks or boarded them up.
