On Saturday December 7th the Bellagio Resort and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip opened their winter display for 2019. It is located in the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Garden. This year’s theme is “Making Holiday Memories” and was designed by Ed Libby and the Bellagio horticulture team.
The Bellagio Conservatory measures 14,000 square feet and they change the displays five times a year. Chinese New Year, spring, summer, fall and winter. The winter display is for the Holiday (Christmas) season and will remain open until January 4th, 2020. The Bellagio Resort has a horticulture staff of 125 that maintain the Botanical Gardens and the entire grounds of Bellagio.
Facts about this year’s holiday display:
- 34,000: Total number of flowers on display for the duration of the exhibit
- 28,000: Number of Poinsettias
- 12,000: Number of hydrangeas used to create the papa polar bear
- 7,000: Number of LED lights found on the holiday tree
- 2,500: Number of ornaments found on the holiday tree
- 2,500: Number of white carnations and hydrangeas to create each baby polar bear
- 1,000: Number of pounds of tapioca pearls found on the carriage
- 322: Tufts of red velvet with crystal buttons inside the carriage
- 180: Number of pounds of black lentils coating the fenders on the carriage
If you visit the Bellagio’s winter display, be sure to also visit the Fountains of Bellagio located in the front of the casino. The Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens are open 24 hours a day and are a free attraction. They are located next to the hotel lobby. The Bellagio Resort Casino is owned by MGM Resorts International.
