Don Laughlin’s Riverside Resort Hotel & Casino is located on the banks of the Colorado River, directly across from Bullhead City, Arizona. Don Laughlin bought the southern tip of Nevada in 1964 (informally called South Pointe). The Riverside Resort opened on August 2, 1966 and he wanted to call the community “Riverside” or “Casino” but the Post Office opted for Laughlin.
Don Laughlin died on October 22, 2023, at the age of 92. The Riverside Resort Hotel & Casino is now owned and operated by his family.
The Riverside has 1,352 rooms and suites as well as a full-service 740-space RV Park that is very popular with “Snowbirds” during the winter months. The South Tower Pool is for adults only, and is open from 8am to 10pm. The North Tower Family Pool, located on the third floor is open from 10am to 10pm.
They have the very popular Jean Jeffrey Salon and Day Spa, gift shop, fitness center, business center and over 14,000 square-feet of meeting and banquet space.
The casino has almost 90,000 square-feet of gaming space with all the popular table games in the pit, including Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, 3-Card Poker and more. They have over 1,000 new and older slot, keno and video poker machines.
They also have a bingo hall with seven sessions daily, 10-table non-smoking poker room and a very nice William Hill Race & Sports Book. The casino has both smoking and non-smoking sections. They use the King of Clubs players card.

There are many bars and lounges, including the Hall of Fame Sports Bar, South Tower Bar, North Tower Bar, River Bar, Slot Bar, Pit Bar, Hideaway Martini Lounge, Riverview Bar & Lounge and Casino West Bar. For entertainment they have Losers’ Lounge Nightclub and The Dance Club Bar & Lounge.
The Riverside also has a 34-lane bowling center, six-screen cinemas with THX surround sound, Don’s Celebrity Theater, arcade, Kid Kastle, laser tag and the very popular Don Laughlin’s Classic Car Museum. Tip: Sign up for a King of Clubs players card for free admission to the car museum.
The resort has a yacht, The U.S.S. Riverside, for scenic day trips ($15) on the Colorado River. The yacht is also available for charter trips.
Fun Fact: When the Riverside opened in 1966, they offered all-you-can-eat chicken dinners for 98 cents, 12 slot machines and two live gaming tables, along with eight motel rooms (although four of the rooms were occupied by Don Laughlin’s family).
Fun Fact 2: The Riverside has charter flights on Sun Country Airlines to 26 states and 80 cities to bring guests to the resort and casino. The only other casino to do this in Laughlin is Harrah’s.
Tip: The Riverside Resort Hotel & Casino has a dock to catch a water taxi. They operate seasonally. They also operate their own water taxis directly to the Arizona side of the river for free.
