$32M Fremont Street Experience Renovations

The Fremont Street Experience in Downtown Las Vegas is set to begin its $32 million renovation of Viva Vision, which is the world’s largest single video screen.  The Viva Vision light show is an LED display on the “canopy” that runs along the Fremont Street Experience from Main Street to Fourth Street.  It features different shows at the top of each hour, starting at dusk.

The upgraded Viva Vision canopy will illuminate the pedestrian mall with 16,433,152 pixels and 5,000 Nits, making it seven-times brighter than the existing canopy with four-times the resolution.  Manufacturing of the LED modules is currently underway and construction is set to begin in May with an expected completion set for New Years Eve. It looks like they will be installing the new Viva Vision panels in sections, so the current shows will continue.

The new canopy will feature new digital content as well as interactive elements such as The Key, an app that will enable visitors to write personalized messages on Viva Vision and vote for the next song or video.

Viva Vision by the numbers:

The hotel casinos that pay for the Fremont Street Experience are Binion’s Gambling Hall, The California Hotel and Casino, The D Las Vegas, Four Queens, Fremont Hotel and Casino, Golden Gate Hotel and Casino, Golden Nugget and Main Street Station. The Fremont Street Experience opened in 1995 and Viva Vision was last upgraded in 2004.
