The D Las Vegas Photos, Tips and Details:
The D Las Vegas is a Hotel and Casino that opened in 1980 as the Sundance Hotel and Casino. In 1987 it was re-branded Fitzgerald’s. In 2012 Derek Stevens and his brother Greg purchased the property, renaming it The “D”, which stands for downtown or Detroit, their hometown.
They did a full remodel of the entire property in 2012 and more from 2020-2022. The hotel has 638 rooms and suites on 34 stories. The D Las Vegas is located on the Fremont Street Experience in Downtown Las Vegas. Tip: The D has a small pool and hotel guests can also visit Stadium Swim at the Circa Resort & Casino (sister property).
The casino features some of the latest slot machines. They have a very lively casino pit with all the popular table games available, including Blackjack, Craps, Roulette and more. At night, the casino pit has dancing dealers. On the second floor they have High Limit Slots, Live Keno and a very nice Circa Sports Book.
They also have Sigma Derby and Fortune Cup horse racing games on the second floor. Tip: The D Las Vegas is the last casino in Nevada to have the Sigma Derby horse racing game. They use the CLUB ONE loyalty card that can be used at The D, Golden Gate Hotel & Casino and Circa Resort & Casino.
The D has restaurants in all price ranges, including:
- American Coney Island (American) Open 24/7
- Andiamo Italian Steakhouse (Steaks & Chops) Tip: Rated #1 on Trip Advisor for over one year.
- Bacon Nation (American)
- Coffee Stand at The D (American)
The Long Bar is very popular and it is a great place to watch sports. Both Derek and Greg Stevens (owners) are from Detroit, so if a Michigan game is on TV, you will see and hear it at the Long Bar. On the second floor they have the VUE Bar and BarCanada, that opened in March 2020.
Tip: Be sure to see the Blarney Stone on the second floor that is a holdover from the Fitzgerald’s. They offer a great venue to to watch sports and concerts at the Las Vegas Events Center. The D accepts Bitcoin and are an official partner of the NHL Vegas Golden Knights.
Fun Fact: The Manneken Pis is a bronze replica of a mischievous little boy “taking a leak” at the main entrance of the D Hotel & Casino. Manneken Pis, which is Flemish for “little man pee,” has thick curly locks, surprisingly sculpted abs and chubby thighs. The original dates back to the early 1600’s located in Brussels, Belgium. This is one of only three licensed replicas in the world, the others are in Tokyo and Rio de Janeiro. The fountain pays homage to The D’s owner Derek Stevens’ Belgian lineage.
Free self and valet parking is available to all hotel guests and if you gamble or dine. Check with the CLUB ONE players desk if not a hotel guest for parking validation. RTC Bus Routes: DEUCE and CX
